Indane Gas Complaint — Register, Track the SRN and Escalate
Indane is IndianOil’s LPG brand, and its complaint route runs on a Service Request Number. Get that number, because escalating above your distributor without one is very hard.
- Who to contact first
- Your Indane distributor first — the agency you book from — then Indian Oil Corporation above it.
- How to reach them
- For a leak, 1906 at any hour. For a service complaint, the IndianOil customer complaint portal at cx.indianoil.in or the IndianOil ONE app, which issues a Service Request Number.
- How long to wait
- IndianOil does not publish a single national redress period for LPG complaints, so note the date on your Service Request Number.
- If they ignore you
- Escalate above the distributor to IndianOil’s area or regional office quoting the Service Request Number, then file on CPGRAMS. For money back, the consumer commission.

The escalation ladder, level by level
Work through these in order. Every forum above asks what you did below, and skipping a rung is the commonest reason a complaint is sent back.

How the process runs
- 1Distributor first
Your Indane agency handles delivery, weight, price and cylinder condition. Get a reference.
then: if unresolved - 2IndianOil complaint — take the SRN
File at cx.indianoil.in or on the IndianOil ONE app. A Service Request Number is issued; that is what you track and escalate with.
then: if the SRN goes nowhere - 3Area or regional office
IndianOil appoints the distributor and can act against it. Quote the SRN.
then: if you want money back - 4Consumer commission
Short delivery, overcharging or refusal of supply is deficiency in service, at e-Jagriti within two years.
What this system will not take up
Filing one of these wastes the whole period — it is closed on that ground alone.
- Anything pending before a court.
- Piped natural gas (PNG), which is a city gas distributor service with a different route.
- A dispute with an appliance seller or stove mechanic, who is not the LPG distributor.
- A claim for compensation — that is the consumer commission, not the company.
What to have ready before you complain
Assemble these first. A complaint that opens with the identifying numbers gets routed; one that opens with how long this has been going on gets a template reply.
- Your Indane consumer number, printed on the subscription voucher and every refill invoice.
- The distributor name and code — the agency you actually book from.
- The refill booking reference and the date booked.
- The cash memo or invoice for the last delivery, showing what you were charged.
- The notified retail price for your area on that date, for an overcharging complaint.
- Photographs of a damaged cylinder, a broken seal or a leaking regulator.
- The complaint reference issued when you first complained.

Who runs this, and who is above it
Indian Oil Corporation Limited, under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas
Indane is IndianOil’s LPG brand. Your distributor is an appointed agency rather than part of the company, which is why a complaint about the agency goes up to IndianOil rather than being settled by the agency itself. The shared LPG numbers and the full distributor ladder are on our LPG complaint hub.

Frequently asked questions
What is the Indane gas complaint number?
For a gas leak, 1906 at any hour — that is the all-India LPG emergency helpline. For a service complaint, the National Portal of India lists a common toll-free number, 1800-2333-555, covering Indane, Bharatgas and HP Gas. IndianOil also takes complaints in writing through its customer complaint portal at cx.indianoil.in and the IndianOil ONE app.
What is a Service Request Number and why does it matter?
It is the reference IndianOil issues when you register a complaint, and it is what every later stage runs on. Escalating to an area office without it is very difficult, because there is nothing for them to look up. Write it down with the date at the time of filing — that date is also the only clock you have, since no national redress period is published.
My Indane subsidy has not been credited. Where do I complain?
Through the IndianOil complaint route, quoting your consumer number and the bank account the subsidy should reach. Subsidy failures usually turn on the bank account or Aadhaar linkage rather than on the distributor, so state which account you expect it in and from which month it stopped — that is far more actionable than reporting that the subsidy is missing.
Can I complain about my Indane distributor rather than about a delivery?
Yes, and it is a different complaint worth making in its own terms. The distributor is an appointed agency, so conduct — refusing to register a complaint, tying delivery to an accessory purchase, charging above the notified price — is escalated to IndianOil, which appoints the agency and can act against it. Give the agency name and code from your subscription voucher.
How long does IndianOil take to resolve an LPG complaint?
No single national period is published, so there is no figure to quote and we will not invent one. Note the date on your Service Request Number and measure from it. Filing on CPGRAMS in parallel attaches a 21-day redress norm and a 30-day appeal window that the company route does not publish.
Is complaining about Indane free?
Yes. 1906, the toll-free complaint line, the portal, the app and CPGRAMS are all free, and no lawyer is involved. Charges you may legitimately face are for the gas and connection themselves, not for complaining. The drafting help here is free too — Word and PDF, no payment and no signup.

What we deliberately left blank (4)
- — IndianOil’s own site returned a redirect and its complaint portal refused connections when this page was built, so the numbers and the portal address are corroborated from the National Portal of India listing and consumer material rather than read on IndianOil’s page. Verify before relying on a specific number.
- — A published redress period for Indane complaints.
- — Distributor and area office contact details, which are on your subscription voucher.
