1. Overview
GetNyay collects and stores data that is necessary to provide the Platform’s services. We are committed to not retaining data longer than necessary and to making data deletion straightforward for users.
This policy is intended to complement our Privacy Policy, which explains what data we collect and how we use it. This policy focuses specifically on how long we keep data and what happens when you request deletion.
2. What Data We Hold
GetNyay holds the following, and nothing else:
Anyone using the complaint wizard
- The complaint itself: category and issue type, the company named, your description of what happened, the amount, dates and any reference numbers you gave.
- The generated letter — its subject line and full body.
- Your name, email address and phone number, where you entered them, because they are printed on the letter.
- Any file you uploaded to that complaint.
- This applies whether or not you were signed in.
Anyone with an account
- Email address, plus name and phone number if given.
- When the account was created and last used.
- The complaints and documents saved under it.
Everyone using an AI feature
- One usage record per request: request type, plan, token counts, whether it succeeded, timestamp, and — for visitors without an account — a salted, irreversible hash of the IP address.
- No message content. What you asked and what came back are not written to that record.
Forms and email
- The demo request form: name, email, phone, role, and city, state and notes if given.
- Email you send to team@getnyay.in, held in that mailbox.
LEGACY \u2014 discontinued features
A few records remain from things the site no longer does: email addresses captured by a sign-up prompt that has since been removed, a few accounts from a professional workspace now closed to new sign-ups, and a handful of payment records from a payment flow that briefly existed.
No user of this site has ever been charged. Those payment records are the operator’s own test transactions from building that flow — a single email address, his, and no user account attached to any of them.
Nothing new is being added to any of them. There is no subscription, no billing, no attorney dashboard and no client-record feature on GetNyay today. These records are subject to the same rule as everything else on this page: ask, and they are deleted.
Held by our providers, not by us
- Hosting request logs: IP addresses, timestamps and requested paths, kept by our host on its own rolling schedule.
3. Retention Periods

There is deliberately no automatic expiry column here. We do not run scheduled deletion jobs, and publishing a timetable we were not actually keeping would be worse than having none. What we commit to instead is simple and checkable: ask, and it is deleted. Where a period here and a period in the privacy policy could be read differently, both pages are updated in the same change.
4. Why We Retain Data
Each thing above is kept for a reason, and where there is no reason we keep nothing:
- Complaints: so you can come back to the letter you made, preview it, edit it and download it again — including without an account, which is how most people use the site.
- Uploaded files: so they stay attached to the complaint they belong to.
- AI usage records: to enforce free usage limits and spot abuse. They hold no message content.
- Account data: because that is the point of the account.
- Form submissions and email: to answer you.
- Hosting logs: to keep the site up and investigate abuse. Held by our host on its schedule, not ours.
The shortest retention period is the one that never starts
Everything generated in your browser \u2014 the letters, the applications, the document formats, the calculators \u2014 is never transmitted to us at all. There is no retention period, no deletion request to make, and nothing that could be disclosed, breached or subpoenaed.5. Data Deletion Requests
You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time. To do so:
- Email team@getnyay.in with "Deletion request" in the subject line.
- Write from the email address the data is attached to, and tell us what you want deleted — an account, a single complaint, an uploaded file, or a form submission.
- We will acknowledge within 5 working days and complete the deletion within 30 days.
- We will email you when it is done.
Because most people who use this site never created an account, we will normally verify a request simply by replying to the address the data is attached to. We will not ask you for an identity document in order to delete something, and you should be suspicious of anyone claiming to be us who does.
6. Legal Retention Exceptions
We may retain certain data beyond the periods stated above in the following circumstances:
- Where required to do so by applicable law, court order, or regulatory requirement
- Where data is relevant to an ongoing or anticipated legal dispute or investigation
- Where data relates to a security incident that is being investigated by us or law enforcement
- Where retention is necessary to enforce our Terms of Service or Acceptable Use Policy
- Legacy payment records from before the site became free are retained for the statutory record-keeping period regardless of a deletion request
Where we retain data beyond your deletion request due to a legal exception, we will inform you of this and of the specific legal basis for the retention.
7. Backups & Residual Data
Our database host keeps its own backups for disaster recovery. When we delete something at your request, it goes from the live database immediately, but a copy can persist inside a backup until that backup rotates out of the provider’s cycle.
- We do not set that backup schedule and cannot shorten it.
- Backups cannot be edited selectively — a single row cannot be removed from one. They are overwritten whole, on the provider’s rotation.
- Backup data is encrypted and is not used for any ordinary purpose. It is restored only in a disaster.
We have deliberately not printed a number of days here. We would only be quoting a provider default rather than a setting we had checked, and a figure you cannot rely on is worse than an honest description of the mechanism.
