HP Gas Complaint — Register, Escalate and the Weekly Grievance Hearing
HP Gas is HPCL’s LPG brand. It runs something the other two do not advertise: a public grievance hearing at major offices on a fixed afternoon each week, where you can put the complaint to someone in person.
- Who to contact first
- Your HP Gas distributor first, then Hindustan Petroleum Corporation above it.
- How to reach them
- For a leak, 1906 at any hour. For a service complaint, the common toll-free line 1800-2333-555, or HPCL’s complaints and feedback route at hindustanpetroleum.com.
- How long to wait
- HPCL guidance describes complaints as generally addressed within about 14 days. Treat that as indicative and note your own dates.
- If they ignore you
- Take it to the public grievance hearing held at major HP offices on a fixed weekly slot, then escalate to the regional office and CPGRAMS.

The escalation ladder, level by level
Work through these in order. Every forum above asks what you did below, and skipping a rung is the commonest reason a complaint is sent back.

Your HP Gas distributor.
Consumer number, booking reference, date and the defect. Ask for a complaint reference.
- 2Hindustan Petroleum Corporation LimitedWait Described as generally around 14 days — treat as indicative

- 3HPCL public grievance hearing / Regional OfficeWait Weekly slot — confirm locally
The weekly public grievance hearing at a major HP office, and the regional office.
A printed one-page note with the consumer number, the references and the relief sought. This is a hearing, so take paper.
- 4CPGRAMS · District Consumer CommissionWait CPGRAMS 21 days; consumer complaint two years from the cause of action

How the process runs
- 1Distributor first
Your HP Gas agency handles delivery, weight, price and cylinder condition. Get a reference.
then: if unresolved - 2HPCL complaint
File through hindustanpetroleum.com or the common toll-free line, quoting the distributor code.
then: HPCL guidance suggests around 14 days - 3Weekly public grievance hearing
HPCL holds a public grievance slot at its major offices on a fixed afternoon each week. Take a printed page and the references. Confirm the day and time locally first.
then: if still unresolved - 4Regional office, CPGRAMS, then consumer commission
The regional office appoints the distributor; CPGRAMS adds a 21-day norm; the consumer commission is the only stage that can award money.
What this system will not take up
Filing one of these wastes the whole period — it is closed on that ground alone.
- Anything pending before a court.
- Piped natural gas (PNG), which is a city gas distributor service with a different route.
- A dispute with an appliance seller or stove mechanic, who is not the LPG distributor.
- A claim for compensation — that is the consumer commission, not the company.
What to have ready before you complain
Assemble these first. A complaint that opens with the identifying numbers gets routed; one that opens with how long this has been going on gets a template reply.
- Your HP Gas consumer number, printed on the subscription voucher and every refill invoice.
- The distributor name and code — the agency you actually book from.
- The refill booking reference and the date booked.
- The cash memo or invoice for the last delivery, showing what you were charged.
- The notified retail price for your area on that date, for an overcharging complaint.
- Photographs of a damaged cylinder, a broken seal or a leaking regulator.
- The complaint reference issued when you first complained.

Frequently asked questions
What is the HP Gas complaint number?
For a gas leak, 1906 at any hour — the all-India LPG emergency helpline. For a service complaint, the National Portal of India lists a common toll-free number, 1800-2333-555, covering HP Gas alongside Indane and Bharatgas. HPCL also takes complaints in writing through the complaints and feedback route on hindustanpetroleum.com.
What is HP Gas’s weekly public grievance hearing?
HPCL material describes a public grievance redressal slot held at its major offices on a fixed afternoon each week, where members of the public can bring complaints in person. It is genuinely useful for a complaint that has gone round in circles on the phone, because someone has to look at your paper in front of you. Confirm the day and time with your local office before travelling.
How long does HPCL take to resolve an LPG complaint?
HPCL guidance describes complaints as generally addressed within about 14 days. Treat that as indicative rather than a guarantee, since it was not readable on HPCL’s own page when this was checked. Note the date you complained and the reference you were given, and use the weekly grievance hearing if that period passes with nothing done.
Can I complain about my HP Gas distributor itself?
Yes, and it is a separate complaint from a delivery problem. The distributor is an appointed agency, so conduct — refusing to register a complaint, tying delivery to an accessory, charging above the notified price — goes up to HPCL, which appoints the agency and can act against it. Give the agency name and code from your subscription voucher.
My HP Gas cylinder was underweight. What should I do?
Say so at delivery if you can — the delivery person should carry a weighing scale and you are entitled to ask for the cylinder to be weighed in front of you. If it has already been accepted, photograph the cylinder and the seal, keep the cash memo, and complain with the consumer number and booking reference. Short weight is straightforward deficiency in service at a consumer commission.
Is complaining about HP Gas free?
Yes. 1906, the toll-free complaint line, the HPCL complaints route, the weekly grievance hearing and CPGRAMS are all free, and no lawyer is involved at any stage. Any demand for money to register or expedite a complaint should be treated as a warning sign.

What we deliberately left blank (4)
- — HPCL’s own complaints page returned 403 when this was built, so the numbers, the roughly 14-day guidance and the weekly grievance slot are corroborated from the National Portal of India listing and HPCL-attributed consumer material rather than read on HPCL’s page. Verify before relying on them.
- — The exact day and time of the weekly public grievance hearing, which should be confirmed with your local office.
- — Distributor and regional office contact details, which are on your subscription voucher.
