Ola Complaint — Grievance Officer, Nodal Officer and Refunds
Ola publishes both a Grievance Officer and a Nodal Officer with separate email addresses, which is more than most platforms do. Using the right one at the right stage is what gets a reply.
- Who to contact first
- Ola in-app support first, then the Grievance Officer, then the Nodal Officer — Ola publishes both separately.
- How to reach them
- Raise it in the app on the specific ride, then escalate to grievance@olacabs.com, and to nodal.officer@olacabs.com if that fails. General support is support@olacabs.com.
- How long to wait
- Ola is an e-commerce entity, so the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020 apply: 48 hours to acknowledge, one month to redress.
- If they ignore you
- The National Consumer Helpline mediates free on 1800-11-4000, and the District Consumer Commission can order a refund and compensation.

Ola publishes both, which is more than most platforms do — and the value is lost if you email them at the same time. Use the Grievance Officer first, give it the acknowledgement and redressal periods the E-Commerce Rules allow, and only then take it to the Nodal Officer quoting what the Grievance Officer did or did not do. Two escalations sent together read as one, and get one reply.

The escalation ladder, level by level
Work through these in order. Every forum above asks what you did below, and skipping a rung is the commonest reason a complaint is sent back.
- 1Ola customer supportWait Same day in practice
In-app support, on the specific ride.
The ride ID, the date and time, the fare charged and what is disputed.
- 2Grievance Officer, ANI Technologies Private LimitedWait 48 hours to acknowledge; one month to redress
The Grievance Officer.
grievance@olacabs.com
The ride ID, the support reference, the dates and the specific relief sought.
- 3Nodal Officer, ANI Technologies Private LimitedWait Not separately published
The Nodal Officer, where the Grievance Officer has not resolved it.
nodal.officer@olacabs.com
Both earlier references and what remains outstanding.
- 4NCH · District Consumer CommissionWait Consumer complaint: two years from the cause of action
The National Consumer Helpline, then the consumer commission.

The ride record, the payment entry and the full correspondence.
How the process runs
- 1Raise it in the app, on the ride
So the fare breakdown and route attach to the complaint automatically. Screenshot the chat.
then: if support declines - 2Grievance Officer
grievance@olacabs.com with the ride ID, the support reference and the relief sought. Cite the 48-hour and one-month obligations.
then: if unresolved - 3Nodal Officer
nodal.officer@olacabs.com, quoting both earlier stages. Do not send this at the same time as the first escalation.
then: if still unresolved - 4NCH, then the consumer commission
Free mediation on 1800-11-4000, then e-Jagriti within two years for a binding order.
What this system will not take up
Filing one of these wastes the whole period — it is closed on that ground alone.
- Anything pending before a court.
- A police matter — an assault or a criminal offence during a ride goes to the police first, with the trip record as evidence.
- Driver employment or partner-account disputes.
- Insurance claims arising from an accident, which follow the insurer’s process.
What to have ready before you complain
Assemble these first. A complaint that opens with the identifying numbers gets routed; one that opens with how long this has been going on gets a template reply.
- The ride ID, and the date and time of the trip.
- The fare breakdown from the app, screenshotted.
- The route map from the trip record, where the route or distance is disputed.
- The payment entry — app receipt and bank or wallet debit.
- The in-app chat transcript, screenshotted before it scrolls away.
- For a safety complaint, the driver and vehicle details from the trip record.

Who runs this, and who is above it
Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020 — Department of Consumer Affairs
Ola operates as ANI Technologies Private Limited and is an e-commerce entity for these purposes, so the E-Commerce Rules apply — a Grievance Officer, acknowledgement within 48 hours and redressal within one month. Ride-hailing is separately subject to state transport and aggregator rules, but for a fare or refund dispute the consumer route is the practical one.

Frequently asked questions
What is Ola’s grievance officer email?
Ola publishes grievance@olacabs.com for the Grievance Officer and nodal.officer@olacabs.com for the Nodal Officer, with support@olacabs.com for general support. We do not print officer names here because appointed officers change; Ola publishes the current names on its own support site, so address the role and verify there before writing.
What is the difference between Ola’s Grievance Officer and Nodal Officer?
They are two escalation stages, and Ola publishing both is unusual. The Grievance Officer is the first written escalation above in-app support. The Nodal Officer is the next stage, for when the Grievance Officer has not resolved the matter. Emailing both at once wastes a stage — use them in order and quote what happened at the previous one.
Ola charged me much more than the quoted fare. What can I do?
Screenshot the fare breakdown and the route map from the trip record before doing anything, because those are the evidence. Raise it in the app on that ride, then escalate to the Grievance Officer with the ride ID, the quoted fare and the amount charged, asking for the difference to be refunded. Overcharging against a quoted fare is straightforward deficiency in service if it goes further.
How long does Ola have to respond to a complaint?
As an e-commerce entity, the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020 require acknowledgement of a consumer complaint within 48 hours of receipt and redressal within one month. Those periods apply to a complaint made to the Grievance Officer rather than an in-app chat, which is a good reason to put anything serious in writing rather than arguing in the app.
I left something in an Ola. Who do I contact?
Use the app’s lost-item flow on that ride first — it connects you to the driver, which is far faster than any escalation. If the item is not returned, escalate in writing to the Grievance Officer with the ride ID, the driver and vehicle details from the trip record and a description of the item. If it is valuable and not returned, a police complaint may be appropriate alongside.
Can I take Ola to consumer court?
Yes. A paid ride is a service for consideration, so overcharging, a wrongly retained refund or a cancelled ride charged in full is deficiency in service. File at the District Consumer Commission through e-Jagriti, with no filing fee where the consideration paid is up to ₹5 lakh, within two years of the cause of action. The ride record and fare breakdown are usually the whole case.

What we deliberately left blank (3)
- — Officer names and direct telephone numbers — deliberately not printed, since appointed officers change. Ola publishes the current names on its own support site.
- — Ola’s internal refund and cancellation-fee policies, which are contractual and change.
- — The registered address should be verified before sending a legal notice.
