A JPEG gets smaller as its quality drops, so the tool searches quality by halving the gap each try until it finds the highest quality under the maximum. Portals never say whether a KB is 1,000 or 1,024 bytes, so each limit is held to its stricter reading: a maximum of 50 KB means 50,000 bytes, a minimum of 20 KB means 20,480 bytes. The file then passes however the portal counts. If even the lowest usable quality is too heavy, the tool does not quietly change the pixels the form asked for. • A 35 × 45 mm visa photo at 300 DPI: 35 ÷ 25.4 × 300 = 413 px wide, 45 ÷ 25.4 × 300 = 531 px high. • A form asks for 20 KB to 50 KB. The target is 20,480 to 50,000 bytes. Suppose quality 95% gives 62 KB: too heavy. The tool tries the midpoint of 30% and 95%, keeps whichever half still fits, and in about seven tries settles on the best quality under 50,000 bytes — say 41 KB at 78%. • A signature at 140 × 60 px, 10 KB to 20 KB. Clean black ink on white is tiny — perhaps 5 KB even at the top quality — so it is under the 10,240-byte minimum. The tool adds an empty comment block inside the file to reach the minimum and says so on the result card. The table is built from the same data as the tool, so the two cannot disagree. A blank cell means the source sets no figure for it. Many forms check width and height exactly. A phone photo is 3,000 pixels or more across; cropping it on the phone keeps that size. Fix: choose the preset, or type the pixels from your notification. Over the maximum is the common failure; under the minimum surprises people. A signature compressed by a messaging app often lands below 10 KB. Fix: enter both limits. Formatफ़ॉर्मेट

Portals read the bytes, not the name. A screenshot saved as PNG and renamed “.jpg” is still a PNG and is refused. iPhone HEIC photos are refused almost everywhere. DPIDPI

DPI is a label inside the file that says how large to print it. It does not change the pixels, but a form that names “200 DPI” may check the label. Phone photos usually say 72 or nothing. The clean-up separates ink from paper by comparing each spot with the paper around it, so it copes with an uneven shadow. It cannot rescue a faint pencil line or a blue pen on blue-lined paper.
